Cognom

Terms of Use

Last updated: July 2026

These terms are a plain-language agreement between you and Cognom about using the app and this website.

Your content is yours

Everything you put into Cognom — notes, transcripts, portraits, photos, voice keepsakes, capsules — belongs to you. You grant us only the limited license needed to store, process, and display it back to you (and to the people you explicitly share it with), which is what the service is. Delete your content or your account and that license ends.

Your responsibilities

Acceptable use

Don't use Cognom to harass, surveil, or harm anyone; don't attempt to access other people's data; don't probe, overload, or reverse-engineer the service. We may suspend accounts that do.

AI-generated content

Portraits and summaries are generated by AI from your notes. They can be wrong or incomplete. They are memory aids, not records of fact, and not advice of any kind.

The service, as-is

We work hard to keep Cognom reliable, but it is provided "as is", without warranties, and we may change or discontinue features. Keep your own exports of anything irreplaceable (Settings → Export). To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before a claim.

Ending things

You can stop using Cognom and delete your account at any time (Settings → Delete account), which permanently deletes your data. We may close accounts that violate these terms, with notice where practicable.

Who you are agreeing with

Cognom is operated by Cognom Inc. ("Cognom", "we", "us"). These terms are an agreement between you and Cognom Inc.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The courts located there have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction.
